- Deathbed of Ignatius
Death came to Ignatius July 31, 1556, after a long life and declining health in the last months. Many of goals were left undone, but he did leave behind a "contagious enthusiasm, a pattern of life, a treasury of hopes and a certainty that God had accomplished all."

- Ignatius in Glory
Ignatius is depicted in this celing rendition of his life in the glory of the celestial court of saints and angels at the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome. Inspired by the lay brother Andrea Pozzo, the light of the eternal God passes through the heart of his son Jesus, carrying the cross, to Ignatius who radiates it out to the four corners of the world.

- Canonization of Ignatius with other saints
In 1595, the Church began examination of the virtues of Ignatius in all the places where he had lived. On July 27, 1609, Ignatius was beatified. The procession included eleven Inca monarch figurines (perhaps symbolizing that the house of Loyola had married into the last living relatives of the royal Inca Atahualpa of Cuzco, Peru). On March 12, 1622, Ignatius was raised to the altar of saints together with Francis Xavier, Teresa of Avila, Isidore of Spain and Filippo Neri (Philip Neri), a ceremony that took place in the completed Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.
